Bienvenidos and Welcome to the fourth season of the VOCES podcast, my name is Analucía Lopezrevoredo and I am your host. It’s been a year since the third season of our podcast concluded, and I want to take a moment to reintroduce you to VOCES, and what you can expect this season.

For people that are joining us for the first time, the VOCES Podcast dives into the dynamic stories of Latin-Jewish community members from across the world. Guests explore the complexity and uniqueness that comes with having a multicultural Latin and Jewish identity, and share their perspectives on culture, community, and family.

This season, we're setting sail to navigate the unique dynamics of Latin-Jewish families, unveiling the vast array of experiences they encounter while raising children in richly diverse family structures.

The landscape of Jewish populations is continuing to transform. According to the Pew Research Center’s 2020 study of Jewish Americans, the fabric of Jewish identity in the United States is increasingly interwoven with threads of various cultures, including a significant representation of Latin Jews. Coupled with insights from the "Beyond the Count" study by the Jews of Color Initiative, which shows Jews of Color comprising 12% to 15% of the American Jewish community, we are prompted to rethink our community engagement and support strategies. This season shines a light on Latin-Jewish families, embodying the broader narrative of multicultural Jewish family structures.

The evolving identity of our community is not just about shifting numbers. The "National Jewish Population Survey" underscores the growing diversity among Jewish households, especially those with children under 18, highlighting the emergent diversity in younger generations. This emerging data sets the stage for this season, emphasizing the need to support families navigating multiple cultural identities.

This shift is not just about numbers; it's a reflection of the evolving identity of our community. The study further illuminates that among Jewish households with children under 18, a significant portion includes people of color, underscoring the growing diversity in younger generations. This context sets the stage for our exploration this season, highlighting why it's a crucial time for all of us to consider how best to support families navigating multiple cultural identities.

Over six episodes, we'll hear from an array of voices, each bringing their unique insight to the fore. From a cultural activist dedicated to linguistic preservation to diverse parents of young Latin-Jewish children, and a young individual offering a firsthand perspective on growing up amidst today's identity conversations. Their stories are the essence of our diverse community's reality, grappling with questions of identity, culture, and belonging.

Why is this season a must-listen? Because it's an exploration of understanding, a quest to find common ground amid our differences, and a celebration of the enriching beauty found in our Jewish community.

So, whether you're part of the Latin-Jewish community, interested in the nuances of multicultural identities, or simply a believer in the power of diversity to transform our world, this season of the VOCES podcast is for you. Join us as we explore, understand, and celebrate the rich mosaic of Latin-Jewish life and the broader implications it has for building a more inclusive society.

Thank you and welcome to season four.
